| BODY: Clean original body with very minimal rust. There are some
areas of surface rust and a couple of lower areas with some pin holes. The bottom
of the side bedrails have some bubbling and pin holes as well. All still very clean for
this type and model of vehicle. Wheel arches are solid. Undercarriage is
very clean. Some bondo cracks near the taillights(see pics), looks like a skim coat.
Repainted years ago in a color similiar to the original but in a satin sheen.
Rare factory full roof rack. New hoops, wood and wood bed floor. Canvas canopy. All
lights work including the reverse lights. PIAA driving lights. New taillight lenses.
Rare bumper guards.

ENGINE: Still has the better type 2 engine not the pancake engine. Rebuilt in 2002. Starts, Runs and sounds excellent. |
TRANSMISSION: Original style 4 speed trans. Shifts great. Will occasionally pop out of 3rd gear when coasting. Extra new clutch cable included. |
EXHAUST: The exhaust is similar to an extractor type and was custom made to hide under the bumper—instead of hanging out under the bumper. Sounds great. |
| FRONT SUSPENSION: Bus Boys adjustable front beam. New front shocks and
draglink. Currently lowered 2" in front. Rides great. |
| REAR SUSPENSION: Original rear. Lowered 1". |
| BRAKES: Front disc and rear drum brakes. Brakes work great. |
| INTERIOR: Redone in stock style. All new with exception of the
rear cardboard panels. Beautiful job done from top to bottom by a professional shop.
New seat pads and covers, headliner, door panels, and visors from Wolfsburg West.
Excellent dash. Dynamat installed throughout. Restored steering wheel. Upgraded front
seatbelts to retractable style. Windows work fine. Clock works. Seats 5. Sony
Xplod AM/FM/CD player with remote. Includes MP3 and USB inputs and an IPOD/IPHONE cable.
Great speakers and a hidden subwoofer. One heater control cable is broken but a new
cable is included as well as an extra new cable for the other side. The owner bought
the cupholder that slides into the ashtray hole at a VW event, the original ashtray
is included. |
| WHEELS/TIRES: Fuchs style wheels including the spare. Kuhmo tires.

| OVERALL CONDITION: Great Driver, functional truck and show vehicle. |
| SUMMARY: This is a very well sorted example. The 1971 is one of the
most sought after years because it is the first year for disc brakes and the last year for
the type 2 engine. Starts right up
and goes down the freeway great. Very minimal rust for this model. The current owner has
spent approx. $9k in repairs and upgrades over the last few years, a big file of
receipts is included.
The car does run and drive great and gets more attention than you can imagine.
